"There's a busy street out front but once the door closes on this stylish provincial restuarant diners are taken on a rewarding gastronomic journey. Yes, in Albury. That's what happens when the vibrant duo of Chef Jodie Jones and Front of House Steve Carne get together.

Extensive renovations in 2006 have resulted in a soothing dining room of high backed leather chairs, gilt mirrors and double clothed tables patrolled by excellent waiters. The menu teases. Prawn and chive egg roll, chive flower salad and prawn consomme reads well but the dish is even better in reality, the broth fragrant with ginger, garlic, fish and oyster sauces. A flavour packed loin of poached salt bush lamb comes wrapped in spinach alongside house made gnocchi and a barigoule of artichokes, mushrooms, green olives, and the underrated vegetable choko.

Considering Sourcedining has created one of Australias finest fortified wine collections, the only thing to do is order a glass, then head for dessert. The short list avoids the obvious: there might be sticky apple, chocolate and walnut millefueille with green apple ice cream. A joy from start to finish."
